This week we are going to be continuing to highlight our fantastic Pork Tenderloins that were recently added to our store! Last week we spoke a little bit about how versatile a Pork Tenderloin truly is due to it being such a lean protein that is comparable to skinless chicken breasts. Now of course, pork is never going to be exactly like chicken but some of very amazing recipes can be equally made with chicken and pork. This week we are going to make a teriyaki pork tenderloin recipe made famous of course because of teriyaki chicken which typically slow cooks chicken and a mix of vegetables in a teriyaki sauce that is then served on a bed of either rice or noodles. This dish can be super easily replicated using pork tenderloin which not only creates an entirely new flavour profile but another level of tenderness as well because everyone knows that pork in a slow cooker, is guaranteed to be a beautiful melt in your mouth experience. So without anything further to do, let’s take a look at what you’ll need:
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 pounds pork tenderloin (Available Here!)
- ½ cup teriyaki sauce (Such as VH brand or any other teriyaki sauce)
- 1 cup chicken broth
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 5-6 cloves garlic, crushed
- 2 teaspoons of dried, crushed red chilli pepper (You can always use fresh chilli peppers and if you like a little more spice to your food, then you are always welcome to add more chillies)
- ½ large onion, sliced
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Now, let’s get cooking! First up, you're going to want to dice up your half an onion, crush your cloves of garlic and really just make sure everything is ready to go into the slow cooker.
Next, in a pan preheat your 2 tablespoons of Olive Oil in a large skillet/pan. Once your oil has preheated for about 2-3 minutes, place your pork tenderloin(s) in the pan and quickly sear/brown the outside for about 2 minutes on each side. Once this is done simply remove your tenderloins from the heat and get your sauce mixture ready in the slow cooker.
In your slow cooker, pour in your teriyaki sauce, chicken broth, brown sugar, your crushed cloves of garlic, the 2 teaspoons of crushed chillies, your diced onion and of course, your black pepper. Give this a quick stir and add in your tenderloin(s). Slow cook your tenderloin(s) for 4 hours on LOW. Throughout the cooking time, flip your tenderloin(s) at least 2-3 times to ensure they cook evenly. Once completely cooked, simply let your pork rest for about 5 minutes and then you’re ready to slice and serve.
There are plenty of amazing ways to serve this dish whether it’s with a variety of rice or noodles and of course, feel free to add in all kinds of amazing vegetables with your tenderloin from carrots or potatoes to even broccoli and cauliflower. The possibilities are endless with such an amazing and versatile protein as a Pork Tenderloin so even if teriyaki is not your thing, there are plenty of amazing recipes out there for your to try!
