Exciting ways to use Bacon in your Holiday meal side dishes

Welcome to day 10 of our 12 days to Unconventional Christmas Countdown! Today we are going to focus on some more amazing ways to include bacon into your Holiday meals.

Let’s begin by reminding everyone that Bonaventure sells Bacon that is naturally smoked and is available by clicking here!

Our family is always on the hunt to find new ways to incorporate one of our favorite things into every meal because Bacon is simply too good to only be allowed to be eaten with breakfast!

Here are 3 cool ways we have incorporated Bacon into our Holiday Side Dishes:

  • First, an amazing way to include Bacon into any kind of side dish is to pair it with potatoes. A very easy side dish involves simply, Dicing up potatoes and placing them into a large casserole dish. Then, add in your favorite frozen vegetable mix. Follow this by adding in raw pieces of bacon that you have cut up specifically to be small. Add in roughly 3 tablespoons of Butter or Margarine, Cover with aluminium foil and bake at 425° for roughly 35 - 40 minutes.
  • Another option is to make Bacon Wrapped Asparagus. There are many people out there who simply do not enjoy Asparagus but Bacon can be an effective way of sneaking this amazing vegetable into their meal. Simply, wash your stalks of Asparagus and chop off the very hard bottom section from each stalk. Then, wrap each Asparagus with one slice of bacon, twisting around the stalk from bottom to top. Bake these at 400° for 20 - 25 minutes until your bacon is nice and crispy.
  • Finally, have you ever considered adding a little bit of Bacon grease to your Christmas stuffing? Rather than using the required amount of butter or margarine in a store bought stuffing, why not use a little bit of Bacon grease to add the delicious flavour of Bacon to your stuffing recipe? If it calls for two tablespoons of butter, two tablespoons of Bacon grease will work perfectly fine as well.

As always, let us know if you have any of your own ways that you like to incorporate Bacon into your holiday meal so we can try it as well. Happy Holidays everyone!
