I have amazing news everyone, we have officially made it to Christmas! Since today is Christmas Eve, if you’re anything like our family chances are you are wrapping gifts and getting everything ready for the big day tomorrow! Well once all the kids have gotten into bed and you are still up planning and wrapping, why not take a moment to relax with this classic EggNog recipe!
Before we get into the recipe everyone at Bonaventure would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New year! Thank you for joining us on this fun countdown and we hope you have enjoyed all of the unconventional goodness that has come out of it. We also hope that you and your loved ones have managed to find a few bright spots throughout this very unusual and difficult year.
Let us begin with what you will need to make fresh Bourbon Eggnog:
- 12 egg yolks
- 2 cups of sugar
- 4 cups of cold milk
- 1 cup of heavy cream
- 1 ½ cups of Bourbon (or your favorite whiskey, scotch, brandy..)
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- A sprinkling of nutmeg for garnishing
In a large bowl, whisk together egg yolks and sugar until this mixture is frothy and smooth.
Next, add in milk, cream, bourbon and vanilla extract. Whisk all of this together until a nice very light yellow/beige colour has been achieved.
As always, let us know if you enjoyed this recipe and if you made any changes so that we can try them out for ourselves! Have a wonderful and safe Christmas everyone!
