With the recent rainy weather we've been experiencing around Montreal, our family has been forced to not only stay inside but also cook inside. With it still being so hot outside, turning the oven on has been a no go, yet we still want amazing comfort food while we've been cooped up. Hmm…. Ah I got it! Sausages and Apple Cider!
Now let's go over some quick pointers:
Firstly, in order for your Sausages to pair well with Apple Cider, they have to be pork sausages, think of it in the same way you would pair Apple Sauce and a beautiful Pork Roast.
Secondly, don't shy away from a classic meat and potatoes meal. Sometimes some of the most comforting aspects of food can be how easy it is to make but also how familiar it is. If your family is anything like ours, then you love adventurous dinning experiences but sometimes, it's just nice to just sit back and let family, conversation and fun take their place at the dinner table. All this is to say, let your sausages be the main character if you will and let that sweet cider manage to really infuse itself with your taste buds!
While we're at it, let's talk a little about ciders in general. There are tons of different types of ciders out there so if Apple just isn't your thing, you can always try finding your own sweet cider to pair with. There are also carbonated and non-carbonated varieties. The cider we've been using is Verger Hemingford's Le Cidre Original. It's made with 100% Macintosh Apples and from right here in Québec! Oh and did we mention it's available in a convenient pack of 4 cans? Oh… I didn't mention that… well it is!
Now all that's left is to sit back and enjoy family time and what's left of this pretty beautiful summer. Don't worry though, if ever you need just a little comfort or happiness, we'll be here to share some with you.
